ALLSPICE | Michael Rakowitz & Ancient Cultures

ALLSPICE | Michael Rakowitz & Ancient Cultures is the inaugural segment of a trilogy curated by NEON in collaboration with the Acropolis Museum, launching in May 2025. The exhibition juxtaposes Michael Rakowitz’s works with ancient artifacts, foregrounding themes of loss, displacement, restoration, and cultural memory through a powerful dialogic narrative. The exhibition identity and environmental design were conceived to harmonize contemporary art and antiquity contextualizing Rakowitz’s commissioned works alongside heritage objects in a space that acknowledges absence (notably that of the Parthenon sculptures) as meaning. Visual graphics, signage, and spatial communication were developed to ensure clarity, resonance, and emotional nuance, allowing visitors to navigate complex histories through balanced composition and thoughtful wayfinding.

This is the first time that a crucial mass of the large-scale works of the D.Daskalopoulos Collection will be exhibited in Greece, gathered in the open, freely accessible space of the former Public Tobacco Factory. Dream On features 18 large-scale installations by artists John Bock, Helen Chadwick, Abraham Cruzvillegas, Martha Dimitropoulou, Peter Fischli & David Weiss, David Hammons, Thomas Hirschhorn, Damien Hirst, Michael Landy, Maria Loizidou, Paul McCarthy, Annette Messager, Maro Michalakakos, Wangechi Mutu, Paul Pfeiffer, Alexandros Psychoulis, Matthew Ritchie and Anna-Maria Samara.

ALLSPICE | Michael Rakowitz & Ancient Cultures

The exhibition catalogue for ALLSPICE | Michael Rakowitz & Ancient Cultures was designed to embody the exhibition’s dialogue between contemporary practice and ancient artifacts. The design concept emphasized clarity and balance, combining typography, layout, and image sequencing that reflect the interplay of Rakowitz’s works with the selected cultural objects. Alongside the design, the coordination of printing production ensured image quality, color accuracy, material selection, and finishing details were carefully managed to achieve both scholarly rigor and aesthetic refinement. The resulting publication extends the exhibition?s impact, serving as both a lasting reference and a finely crafted object in its own right.

C. P. Cavafy’s Timeline

The C. P. Cavafy Timeline is an interactive digital platform dedicated to exploring the life and work of one of Greece’s most celebrated poets. As a subcontractor to Indigital, the design concept was developed to transform an extensive archive of manuscripts, correspondence, photographs, and personal notes into a coherent and engaging narrative. The platform’s refined interface invites visitors to follow the poet’s personal journey and creative evolution while situating his work within its broader historical and cultural context. By combining clarity, storytelling, and accessibility, the project offers an elegant and immersive way to connect with Cavafy’s enduring legacy.
